PATRIMOINE - Maison Denhaut

In 1906, Creus architect François Denhaut built a block of apartments as a showcase for his building expertise. The building, innovative for its time with its Art Nouveau influence (elaborate ironwork, "whiplash" molding, plant motifs), emphasizes comfort and functionality.

The building has an asymmetrical elevation, with three bays over five levels, under a flat roof. It is built around a re-entrant angle that follows the curve of the street. The façade on rue des Fusillés is distinguished by a subtle play on materials: imitation stone in cement runs up to the second floor, while the subsequent floors are clad in smooth rendering. The rather low first floor features two single-leaf doors on the right.
