The protohistoric oppidum of Mont des Lannes, a listed site, was taken over by the Romans after their conquest of Aquitaine in 56 BC. It can be reached from the lower town by a small sloping path: the côte de Brille
The "Castrum Caesaris" fortified around the 5th century, dominating the Adour, was an excellent observatory with a palace, the Palestrion
A martyrdom church dedicated to Severus the martyr could be implanted in these places
Behind the houses, a fortified castle was built in the Middle Ages, of which only the castral mounds remain.
Today, the Mont des Lannes became Morlanne, is a park, seat of the arena (1932), and the statue of General Lamarque by Felix Soulès. It still offers a breathtaking view of the Adour valley.
