The path does not pass through it (you can only guess the entrance), but we have to mention the Gola delle Fascette: it is 600 meters long, eroded into the limestone by water which flowed on the surface in the past, it now runs underground, because the waters of the Rio Nivorina are swallowed by the Garb del Butaù.For centuries, with its overhanging cliffs, it constituted an impassable barrier, forcing the inhabitants of the valley to take the long way around. Only at the end of the nineteenth century, with the collaboration of the army, a path was made through the gorge, then equipped with metal cables in the most exposed sections. After the war, the Feltrinelli company built a road linking Viozene to Upega in exchange for the logging rights in the Navette, Binda and Bosco Nero woods. The excavation debris was dumped in the gorge, altering its original appearance. The flood of 1994 transported a large part of the excavation spoil downstream, bringing to light the large potholes excavated by water and many other erosive features.[On-site information panel]
