Copper mines

In the 18th and 19th centuries, there was intense activity around Dôme de Barrot’s copper seams: three tons of minerals were transported by mule and dealt with every year, with up to 230 people employed as a result.The parish of Amen, which also includes two other hamlets, was prosperous with more than 120 inhabitants in 1802.
