Escale Pêche invites you to take a behind-the-scenes look at the small-scale fishing industry in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie: the history of the fishing port, the different species fished, fishing techniques, the job of the fisherman, working in an auction, the tasks of the fishmonger...
A visit to the permanent exhibition, "The journey of the fish from the ocean to the plate", also gives visitors a better understanding of the issues facing the fishing industry, as well as raising their awareness, as consumers, of the need to support small-scale fishing.
To complement your visit, you can also visit the fish auction on weekday mornings, depending on when it is open.
For children aged 6 and over, the "Jeannette the prawn" treasure hunt.
Temporary exhibition: "Croix-de-Vie to the rhythm of the landing".
Using old postcards, discover life in the fishing port and its inhabitants in the middle of the 20th century. Accessible when you visit the sea fishing discovery centre.
Groups welcome all year round by prior arrangement.
Visits must be booked in advance. Book your visit on the Escale Pêche website, by telephone or at the tourist offices of the Pays de Saint Gilles.
