The Fontaine aux Merles lake is a veritable green lung, with picnic tables in the shade and a footpath that's ideal for a day out with the family or friends. This bucolic, wooded environment is an ideal place to observe the flora and fauna while taking a break from nature. A petanque pitch, toilet facilities and a covered area (ideal for rainy weather) are available to visitors during their visit.

The lake is also an ideal place for fishing. Fishing enthusiasts can look forward to catching pike, pike-perch, perch, tench, bream, etc. Fishing cards from the Gaule Saint Marsienne association are available from Tabac-Cadeaux Bontemps (17 rue de la libération) in Saint-Mars-la-Jaille or Vival (rue du Maréchal de Bourmont) in Freigné.
