The chapel overlooks the Rhône River and the town of Yenne. Built in the 19th century, it is dedicated to the Virgin. Its monumental statue, sculpted by J. Fabisch is a replica of the Virgin on the chapel's steeple of Fourvière, in Lyon. Yenne village.
The chapel is set into a massive dome made of large blocks of rough stone, which serves as the base for the statue of the Virgin. The façade is simple, topped with a triangular pediment and pierced by a pointed-arch doorway. Inside, there is a white marble altar and a small statue of the Immaculate Conception. The nave is covered with a ribbed vault.
The monumental statue, erected thanks to donations from the local population, is made of cast iron painted white with gilded ornaments. It was cast by Mr. Villard of Lyon.
The decision to build this structure was made following the 1863 mission given in Yenne by the Jesuits. Father Calloud wished for a monument dedicated to the Virgin to preserve the memory of this mission. The access path was completed in 1864, followed by the construction of the chapel. The inauguration took place in July 1866 in the presence of the Bishops of Belley and Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. A large public procession through the streets of Yenne, from the church to the chapel, carried the small statue of the Immaculate Conception, which was to be placed inside the chapel.
