Among the figures who have left their mark on the town of Meymac, there is one who left a particularly strong memory in the minds of its inhabitants: he was the creator of the wine trade in Meymac-près-Bordeaux. He was Jean-Gaye Bordas, known as "barlet", the small barrel maker who built the Moine-Larose castle, the first turreted building in the town
