Come and contemplate history from the top of a promontory! The priory and church of Saint-Michel-des-Anges were a dependency of the Poitevin abbey of Charroux. Initially built in the Romanesque period, the church underwent major alterations in the 15th and 16th centuries, including the construction of Gothic vaults.
All that remains of the Benedictine priory of Saint Michel-des-Anges, which adjoined the church, is the east wing, in the extension of the transept. It houses the chapter house and former kitchens. The upper floor, remodeled in the 17th century, housed the dormitories. The southern wing, no longer in existence, housed the refectory.
Access to the priory is free every day.
