Limoges City Hall wasinaugurated in 1883. The fact that it was built in the spot where an Antique Forum used to be, is a surprising coincidence. Architect Charles-Alfred Leclerc drew his inspiration from Paris City Hall. The edifice is built on a granite base, its limestone front wall is a combination of Renaissance and Louis XIII styles. Four famous Limoges figures are represented of the mosaic's medallions : Léonard Limosin - hte famous enamel-worker, chancellor d'Aguesseau, Vergniaud the revolutionary and Marshal of the Empire Jourdan. Before leaving Limoges City Hall, be sure to stop by the fountain to admire its porcelain plates.
