The pond Murat is located on the town of Saint-Leger Magnazeix in central northern department of Haute-Vienne about 50 kilometres from Limoges. The common-les-Lussac the churches bordering on the totality of the north-east bank on more than one kilometre.
Plan artificial water built on the river Asse, is one of the ponds the largest and oldest in the department of Haute-Vienne.
Built between 1474 and 1534, the pond Murat, with an area of 30 hectares, has long been known naturalists for its ecological wealth.
Near the Brenne and favourably located on the migratory routes, the lake receives many species of waterbirds. Its flat structure and quality of its natural habitats and aquatic wetlands are a privileged site for the rest, reproduction and nesting waterfowl.
