« Quatre demoiselles dans un couvent qui ne voient ni pluie ni vent… Qui sont-elles ? Les quatre parties du cerneau de la noix » (Literally : "Four damsels in a convent who see neither rain nor wind... Who are they? The four parts of the walnut kernel" In Saillac, the name of the walnut museum is directly inspired by this Limousin riddle. Opposite the 12th century church, the former Benedictine women's priory (9th to 18th century) houses the Four Ladies, an original, spectacular and innovative facility. Here, the walnut can be discovered in all its forms:
- On the terrace, on the ground floor and on the first floor of the tower, a bistro, both a café and a shop, allows you to taste a wide range of products made from walnuts ( Restaurant/Bar)
-Terrace with covered pergola
-borne WIFI
- In the beautiful vaulted room, the CIAN holds its annual meeting and its thirteen members tell you, through sound and image, the marvellous history of the walnut. The following rooms contain the CIAN's mysterious "treasure", where works and objects related to the walnut are collected.
By the way, you still don't know the CIAN, the International Circle of Friends of the Walnut, whose headquarters are located at the Quatre Demoiselles since its creation in 1956? Then, quickly, go to Saillac for a fascinating visit of at least one hour and 15 minutes! A 45-minute museography before the visit to the treasure room.
