La Halle

Description

Built in the 13th century, it is contemporary with the walled town. It was rebuilt in 1484, after the sack of Treignac by Rodrigue de Villandrando (1438). He had come to recover the 1,000 écus borrowed from him by Jean de Comborn. It currently comprises twelve pillars, two of which were felled in 1910 due to traffic congestion in the Notre Dame de la Paix district. The roof is made of chestnut and covered with Travassac slates. On the right is a screened-in lean-to where weights and measures were kept.
