Château de Mirabeau au Saillant

Description

Built in the 15th century, the château was altered in the 17th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Of the original château, a rectangular building close to the square remains, as do the machicolations.
Remains of military architecture in the basement and a Mansard roof.
The château has preserved its moats, which are fed by the Vézère river.
M.H. protected in 1979 and 1997.
Other protected features: 17th-century barn and sheepfold, 16th-century murals in the living room.
In the 13th century, the Comborn family were lords of Le Saillant.
In the 14th century, the estate was acquired by Guy de Lasteyrie. The Lasteyrie family became Viscounts of Comborn, Marquis of Saillant and Objat, and Grand Seneschal of Limousin.

The château is part of a group of buildings listed in the "Sites Pittoresques" inventory in 1945.

Private castle closed to the public.
