Description

Le nom de la commune vient de Vicus Scoliva (Escolives), établissement thermal romain situé à quelques kilomètres d'Auxerre, au troisième siècle.
La seigneurie d'Escolives est détenue au XVIe siècle par Adrien Fouldriat, de Coulanges-la-Vineuse. Sa descendance, alliée aux familles bourgeoises d'Auxerre Loyset et Lessoré finiront par se partager la seigneurie. Les Lessoré, logés au port d'Escolives, prendront le nom de Lessoré de Sainte-Foye.

Sainte-Camille a été ajouté dans les années 1950 en hommage à sainte Camille, morte à Escolives d'après la tradition.
