MARSAL - A CENTRE OF SALT PRODUCTION

Porte de France, Marsal
Credit : Emmanuel Stourm 2020 Licence Open Data

Description

Discover Marsal's architectural heritage through the streets of the town and along the battlements. The Seille Valley gets its name from its many salt springs supplied by water that flows across one of the largest rock salt seams in the world. Salt was produced in Marsal from the Bronze Age to the 17th century. Once an urban community fortified by Vauban, Marsal is now a quiet village filled with reminders of its past.
