A first church was built in the 12th century and was located in the heart of a suburb of the town of Montmorillon. In the 19th century, judged too small and in bad condition, the building was rebuilt except for the old choir and the bell tower dating from the Romanesque period. These elements are still visible in the eastern part. The new building is in the neo-Gothic style and has a very homogeneous furniture from the same period: pulpit, organ, stained glass windows. The latter, in particular, form an ensemble of great quality testifying to the religious tastes of the time and to the economic and social life of the town of Montmorillon.
Registered as a Historic Monument in 1984.
