An important place of pilgrimage, the church dates from the 12th and 13th centuries. During the Middle Ages, the priory was favored by several kings of France. Originally much larger, the church retains only its nave. Its western facade has one of the most beautiful galleries of sculpted modillions of the 12th century in South Vienne Poitou. Human and animal heads, composite animals such as the jackfish, monsters remind us of the importance of the imagination of medieval sculptors. It also shelters a statue of the Virgin, object of pilgrimages, and tombs of knights of the 13th and 14th centuries.
