Albert 1st Square

The "Place Albert 1er" is the city centre of Malmedy. The square is surrounded with coffee shops, bars and restaurants.
In the middle is an obelisk that was built out of limestone in the 18th century. The obelisk is engraved with emblems from the penultimate prince-abbot "Jacques de Hublin". It entails a fountain at his feet: bins collecting the water who goes through lions’ heads.
