Description

Au carrefour des rues Neuves et du Château, un calvaire singulier du XIVème siècle, apparaît derrière un treillis. Haut de 1.50 mètre, cette pierre sculptée en un seul bloc est de facture assez naïve et appartenait au tombeau d'un seigneur ayant combattu aux côtés du roi Jean le Bon (1350-1364); il s'agirait de Jacques de Lallaing. On admire ici le travail du sculpteur dans les grès et l'effet qu'il donne : une impression de vent qui souffle.
