Le cimetière de Dison

On passing through the cemetery, one cannot fail to notice several imposing monuments created by architects, including the tomb of the Fonsny family (by Auguste Vivroux, who created the Ortmans mural fountain in Verviers, amongst others), adorned with many symbolic sculptures such as those of upside down torches (life is over, the flame will go out), crowns (circles without a beginning or end symbolising eternity), owls (nocturnal birds able to lead the souls of the deceased through the darkness) and others that cannot be mentioned here.
