His lordship Ferdinand Bleyfuesz, who was born and died in Dison, was conscripted into the army of the First Empire and journeyed through a majority of Europe. On returning home, his interest was drawn by the cloth industry and new manufacturing processes. He made his fortune by trading directly with countries in the Americas and became Chairman of the Dison Church's Manufacturing Council, town councillor from 1830 to 1848, deputy mayor, as well as a member of the Hospice Committee and the Charity Office. He personally intervened in Brussels to obtain the authorisation for the construction of Saint Fiacre Church. In 1861, he had a residence built at the top of Rue de la Montagne, the street linking Dison to Mont. Built using red brick according to plans he had drawn up himself, it was called, faithfully to his wishes, the "Malakoff Tower".
