Manufactured by: Kettling & Braun, Crimmitschau (D), 1938Origin: Les Apprêts Deforges, in DisonVerviers Museum Collection: No. A102The aim of decatising is to de-luster (when necessary) the fabric, to fix it so it does not deform through use and to improve its softness by inflating it. During this process, the fabric is rolled around the large cylinder. Each layer is separated by a layer of duffle which is unrolls from the roll located underneath. The vapour is evacuated via the perforations. On completion of the process, the machine turns backwards to deposit the fabric.
