The first railway station in Verviers was built at Gérardchamps. Although it also played host to passenger traffic, this station was also a goods station with an adjoining customs office. After this goods station was shut down, the site remained unoccupied for many years. The warehouse, or customs depot, is the sole remaining building from the major complex that formed the western station. It is currently occupied by the Hôtel Verviers run by the Van der Valk group (9) and its restaurant called "l’Entrepôt".On the façade, you can see the coats of arms of the cities and towns with which the firms in Verviers traded: Buenos Aires, Sydney, London, Bordeaux and of course the towns and cities with which it is today twinned, such as Roubaix, Bradford, etc.
