La fontaine du Pont d’Al Cute

This is the last of the public fountains. It dates from 1828 and, at the time, the water it produced was said to be the best in the town. The statue of Christ is very old and probably dates from the 18th century. In the Walloon dialect used in Verviers, "cute" means prostitute. This bridge bears this name due to the women who sold sexual favours in the nearby houses.
