The Perron, built in 1732, was placed on a public fountain. It was a prestigious symbol of the commodity from which the population had recently benefitted via the channelling of water through a lead pipe. This monument has been listed since 1934, and is made of blocks of calcareous stone from Verviers. Measuring 4 metres in height, it is made up of a bronze column on which sits a pine cone (symbolising solidarity) and the Principality Cross, a reminder that Verviers was part of the Principality of Liège). The story went that, not so long ago, during the town's festivities, the Perron discharged beer.
