Made up of a central ionic column, this fountain (a monument made of calcareous stone and bronze) was erected in memory of Pierre David, born in 1771, and elected as the first mayor of Verviers following the Revolution of 1830. He took the decision to make the town council's sessions public. According to legend, the heart of David lies inside this fountain, which is the work of architect Clément Vivroux and was inaugurated in 1883.
