THE VILLA MONTEBELLO, MUSEUM OF SEASIDE ART AND HISTORY
Built in 1865 by the architect Jean-Louis Célinsky de Zaremba, Villa Montebello has housed the museum's collections since 1972. A true witness to the seaside history of Trouville-sur-Mer, it conserves and exhibits a rich diversity of works and objects: paintings, posters, lithographs, drawings, manuscripts, objects and clothing.
The collections are organised around two major themes:
the birth of sea bathing ;
the development of holidaying on the Côte Fleurie, a source of inspiration for artists from the XIXᵉ century to the present day.
A museum of seaside art and history, the Villa Montebello Museum places particular emphasis on the fine arts, through works by painters, draughtsmen and engravers, from the Romantic discoverers to the artists of the XXᵉ century.
The collections also include numerous creations by renowned poster artists, including the famous Raymond Savignac, a Trouvillais by adoption and a key figure in 20th-century advertising posters.
