Description

The Henri-Chapelle American cemetery and memorial is the final resting place for 7992 service men , most of whom lost their lives during the advance of the US armed forces into Germany. The memorial is composed of a long colonnade where the names of 450 of the missing are inscribed. On one end, a simple but beautiful chapel invites for recollection. On the other end is a visitor center with two large military maps with inscriptions recalling the achievements of the American forces. Across the highway, an overlook affords an excellent view of the rolling Belgian countryside. Every Sunday of summer until the end of September 2018 presentations of the cemetery are held in English at 11am, and in French a 11:30 am. Free. No booking needed. Meeting point on the terrace. We also offer free guided tours every day of the week, all year round, in French or English. We invite you to book the tours 2 weeks prior to visiting the site via e-mail or telephone. Our team will be pleased to help you every day from 9 am to 5 pm.To become a Sentinel of Memory for an individual serviceman in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery : aomda.org/en/content/serve-sentinel-memory
