Built from 1491 to 1534 in the flamboyant Gothic and Renaissance style on an old Romanesque chapel, the church of Notre-Dame was remodelled and restored in the seventeenth century, eighteenth century and nineteenth century. Located on the Way of Santiago de Compostela, it houses the chapel of Saint-Roch, once dedicated to pilgrims.
It is the highest monument in the Department of Deux-Sèvres. The gothic spire of its bell tower rises to 75 meters high! She is, it is said, the work of the fairy Mélusine, half-woman and half-snake, who, surprised in his work, forgets to put the last stone!
To see: the North portal, the large stained glass window of the Tree of Jesse, the Renaissance grandstand and the large listed organs.
