According to Georges Tholin, Sainte-Raffine is the oldest church in the Lot-et-Garonne region, dating back to the 11th century, and possibly the 10th century, as "everything in this church is rudimentary in style, and shows the infancy of Romanesque art". Its interest lies in its pulpit, which was built at the same time as the church.
The oldest part of the church is the choir, which dates back at least to the 12th century, and was once cross-vaulted. The triumphal arch is composed of two columns surmounted by rudimentary capitals decorated with palmettes and scrolling leaves. The church is currently being renovated.
