Owned by the Colas de Malmusse family (allied with the Le Meilleur des Marais, Ballan, Chancerel and Jogues families), who had the present château built. The Colas family acquired this "noble land" from the Barrin de La Galissonnière and Biré de Bouaye families, who had garennes and a dovecote in Ardennes. The jurisdiction was governed by the Léauté des Mellerais, Gigault, Courant, Coussays, Magouet de Bouée, Orhant de La Souchais, Cormier and Letourneux families, all of whom were notaries or lawyers, and who, along with the Ecomard, Meignen, Nau and Plaintive families, wrote the Cahier de Doléances of Sainte-Pazanne.
The estate was later sold to the Guillet de La Brosse family. Jules Guillet de La Brosse was appointed mayor of Sainte-Pazanne, after the Marquis de Charette in 1878, and saved the beautiful wooden statues in the old church, which now adorn the Ardennes Hall. Colonel Deslondes, aide-de-camp to General Moulin, occupied Ardennes with the 8th Paris Battalion. The Sainte-Pazanne town hall, then called La Franchère, issued him with a certificate on 8 Thermidor 1794, stating that he had restored order.
The entire estate is privately owned, and tours are not available.
