The seigneury and the castle of Pujols belonged in the 14th century to the de Gensac family, who also owned the castle of Rauzan. After many changes, the King of England gave this lordship in 1439 to his favourite Bernard Angevin; thereafter, and until the Revolution, the barony of Pujols remained in the hands of the lords of Rauzan, that is to say the Durfort de Duras.
Declared a "national asset" because of the emigration of its castellans, the castle was acquired by the commune which installed the town hall there. The ramparts were destroyed, according to Léo Drouyn, around 1830.
