Lime was widely used in the 19th century to improve the soil and to refine steel for tinplate manufacture. From small-scale production, often carried out in the kilns of tile and brick factories, we moved on to industrial production, with the creation of imposing kilns and even real factories.
Production ceased in the first quarter of the 20th century. Cement works took over the processing of limestone.
Today, the building has virtually disappeared, with only a few stone ruins remaining.
