In place of the pond of the great water, which collected a portion of the water descending from the hillside with a stream passing through the street of the four bridges, was built a very large wash. There was also another wash-house opposite the city and many fountains to ensure the supply of drinking water. This washhouse has been transformed into a Rescue Center. The latter will be transferred to new buildings rue Jean Danysz. The Grand Lavoir can then be rehabilitated.
