Anglet's beaches stretch for 4.5 km from north to south and are bordered by a pathway known as the Promenade Littorale (Victor Mendiboure Promenade), enabling walkers and sports enthusiasts to link the lively La Barre and Chambre d'Amour districts on foot. All along the promenade, there are freely accessible playgrounds, relaxation areas and leisure facilities for all the family. There's a skatepark, a basketball court, beach volleyball courts, children's play areas and sports equipment. From the promenade, you can also see the Izadia park, the Atlanthal thalassotherapy centre and the famous links course at Golf de Chiberta.

This tour is a great opportunity for a day of "bike travel" with the family. The majority of the route is on bicycle paths and the absence of altitude difference makes the effort moderate. However, the distance is long and you will have to manage your effort to reach Bayonne in the best conditions. The lunch stop in the village of Urt will be a nod to gastronomy and the snack break on the banks of the Adour will be an ode to contemplation. The unavoidable detour into the narrow streets of "Petit Bayonne" can be considered at the beginning or end of the tour in order to admire the vestiges of the past and enjoy the lively shops. A small option of 1 additional km offers the possibility of discovering the natural reserve of the barthes and its ornithological observatory. On both banks of the Adour, young and old alike will find something to do on this bike tour along the river.

It is on an old towpath on the left bank of the Nive, emblematic river of Basse-Navarre and Labourd, that this green way guides you today. Some families of tanners or farmers had formerly elected residence on the banks of the river, the majority preferring the heights to move away from the risks of floods of this tributary of the Adour, under influence of the tides until Villefranque. We go up a landscape of barthes (flooded meadows) dedicated to agriculture, and we will allow ourselves shady and contemplative pauses on the river, its birds and its oars, or a refreshing stop at the guinguette of the bridge of Villefranque.

Direction Anglet for a bike ride on equipped roads. We leave to the discovery of the forest of Pignada, place of walk and oxygenation privileged of the Angloys. The circuit reveals the privileged passages towards the lake of Chiberta and directs you between the coquettish villas, of Moorish, art-deco or neo-basque style. It also follows the golf courses and offers options for detours to the ocean beaches. Pine forest, labyrinth of villas and proximity to fine sandy beaches, the atmosphere is multiple.

To discover the history of the town of Capbreton, let yourself go along its narrow streets (1) also called "balènes", some of whose names are those of the sailors, masters and ship captains who lived here. Continue along the pedestrian street of Général-de-Gaulle (2) called "Grand'rue" and admire at numbers 48 and 56, the two medieval houses with corbelling and half-timbering called "Maisons des Anglais". Continuing your way, you will come across the charming tree-lined square "Yan dou Gouf" (3) (Jean Duboscq), poet and Gascon teacher. Nearby is the media library "L'Écume des jours" in homage to Boris Vian who stayed in Capbreton in 1940 and met his wife Michelle there. The funniest aquatic park! The chapel was built in 1932 on the dunes at Labenne Océan. Of classical architectural style, it is composed of a sanctuary and a single nave. The interior of the chapel is decorated with a Way of the Cross painted by a student of Fine Arts, Suzanne Labatut. The Germans, who occupied the chapel during the Second World War, fled with the bell. It was replaced after the occupation. Over the years, the chapel has suffered climatic hazards and vandalism, it is very degraded. Because of its heritage character and its location on the dune, the Conservatoire du Littoral is implementing its restoration in the fall of 2018. The bell is restored and put back in its bell tower for the inauguration of the chapel in June 2019. The chapel is not open to the public, except for exceptional events, but it is possible to admire it from the outside.

Interstices is located in the ‘Pôle de services Jean Bertin’ (Tarnos SSE activity zone), dedicated to professional integration and business creation. Welcome to PARCC, the MACS art center in the heart of the Labennes forest. A space dedicated to contemporary creation, with a cultural program open to all. With three large exhibition halls, a creative workshop and a practice space, PARCC is a lively place designed to host large-scale exhibitions, but also offers mediation and artistic practice for all audiences: children, families, schoolchildren... At the end of the 19th century, the emergence of a major iron and steel complex on the Adour Estuary led to far-reaching changes for the town of Tarnos. A major activity in the first half of the 20th century, attracting workers from all over France, the plant was also responsible for the creation of a whole ‘village’: the cité des Forges. The Church of Notre Dame des Forges, the school, the foreman's house and the workers' dwellings still bear witness to this industrial past, which is rather rare in the Landes.

Interest: Protected natural area. Main ornithological site. The marsh was dried out for agricultural purposes under Napoleon the IIIrd mandate. This old polder is surrounded by canals. It is now a privileged halt for migrating birds wanting to rest and feed. The Marsh of Orx welcomes a great diversity of birds. It is a vast and well known protected area. Open all year long for a free visit: Activities, guided tour (by appointment), bird watching…

Ice-cream shop on the beach at Ondres open at weekends out of season and every day from February to September. Pancakes, waffles, doughnuts and churros are homemade to order. The ice creams (around sixty flavours) are made in France by our master ice cream maker (Jean-François Duport from sopaglaces). We also offer ice creams from the Baïlia farm in Bardos (made with milk from their farm and local fruit). For snacks, try an American kebab, burger, panini or salad. You can also eat on the shaded terrace opposite the shop.
