Until 1935, the inhabitants of Pey, like those of Josse, on the other bank of the Adour, used a ferry to cross the river. This crossing of the Adour is done by boat, horse-pass or batelet. As early as the 19th century, the inhabitants of the surrounding communes on both sides of the river wanted to see a bridge replace this ferry. A project was born in 1870, but it was not finally completed until 1931, and it was not until 1935 that the inauguration of the bridge took place.

Saubusse has a remarkable church built in the 13th century under the reign of Saint-Louis during the last Romanesque period and the first Gothic period. It was fortified in the 14th century. It is registered in the inventory of Historical Monuments in 1966. The statue of the archangel St-Michel is classified as a M.H. in 1957.

More than 3000 years old, the Barthes de l'Adour are a typical environment of the region, corresponding to agricultural land (private and public) that can be flooded during the period when the river is flooding. In these vast expanses of water, grass and mounds strewn with trees in a row (the barthes), heavy horses and Landes ponies roam free. This pure nature is only disturbed by the flight of storks, the cry of a woodcock or the shadow of a grey heron. These (protected) wetlands favour the development of a specific flora listed by the National Forest Office such as carnivorous plants, alders or bald cypress. In summer the marsh hibiscus blooms on the banks of the Jouanin stream.

Maison Azu is an old farmhouse from 1850, built on a wooded plot of 4000m2. Situated 20km from the Landes beaches, at the gateway to the Basque Country, Bearn, Spain and less than an hour from the first ski resorts, you can walk or cycle along the banks of the Adour river (800m from the house). The two rooms, restored in the respect of this traditional 19th century building, are very comfortable and bright. Each room has a bathroom with an Italian shower and an independent toilet.
