This walk allows you to discover one of the most important sites of Arès. Through this loop. You cross the dyked and forested part of the reserve. From February to October, the Tourist Office offers guided tours with a naturalist guide. To know the detailed program, consult the heading Agenda. Located at the end of the Avenue de la Plage, this old mill now looks like a watchtower, with its crown of battlements. Formerly a windmill, it was located on the estate of the Château. It was built in 1840 by Louis-David Allègre and abandoned when the railway arrived.

Walkers can walk on the Bassin d'Arcachon via the Arès pier. The Arès pier, built in the 18th century, is the simplest and oldest of the Arcachon basin. It is a long cement stone path that looks like a quay. Near the pier, you will find today, the oviport and its flying saucer, as well as a playground on the beach. From the jetty, take the path that runs along the basin to the right, for a 10 min walk to the Oyster Port.

An essential element of the Oyster Port, this wooden statue of Niangon was created by the sculptor Dominique Pios and installed in 1997. With a height of 4m30, it took 600 hours of work to make it. Symbolizing water, the Femme Océane is recognizable by its rounded shapes.

The thirty or so huts, coloured yellow, blue or green, house the equipment needed to grow oysters. This atypical site is composed of 2 darses (equivalent to streets) in the middle of which you will find many empty oyster bags, drying. At the beginning of the summer, the whitewashed tiles contribute to the decoration and authenticity of the port. They are used for shellfish collection in the parks. The only boats present, the "plates" or "barges", are used at the tide by the oyster farmers. Revenues loaded with oyster bags, the shells are then refined in the "claires" (filled with fresh water).

The site of Quinconces remains one of the few "wild" places of the coast north Basin offering a magnificent panoramic view to discover The Pointe des Quinconces, protected and listed in the picturesque heritage of the Gironde, was the favorite walk of Sarah Bernhardt during his stay in Andernos-les-Bains. You can see the old fish tanks dug in 1840 by David Allègre, known for having built the first steam trawler in the world, "the Turbot", in Arès. Following the coastal path northwards, a wooden bridge allows you to cross the Cirès river to reach the beach of Saint-Brice in Arès.

On the edge of the Bay of Arcachon, Arès was built around its port, the most important of the Bay for centuries. There remains a beautiful 18th century pier, lined with its old cannons, now dedicated to pleasure boating. A few steps away, the castle of Arès, the church of Saint-Vincent de Paul illuminated by the magnificent stained glass windows of Raymond Mirande and old houses like the house Bardet. The old airy house of Arès, created by the Wallerstein foundation to welcome children threatened by tuberculosis, is the result of a collaboration between the medical profession and a Parisian architectural firm. The buildings of the airyrium represent the archetype of all medical establishments for children built in France between the two wars.

Built between 1868 and 1878, this church contains many curiosities. Composed of hard stones from St-Savinien (Charente-Maritime), its bell tower faces east which is the point of sunrise on September 27th (St Vincent's day). By pushing the oak doors of this religious monument, you will discover the organs installed in 1973. Atypical elements, the clams are actually 2 tridacne shells (shells from the tropics). The stained glass windows were created by the master enameller Raymond Mirande (born in 1932 in Bordeaux).
