Located at the end of the Avenue de la Plage, this old mill now looks like a watchtower, with its crown of battlements. Formerly a windmill, it was located on the estate of the Château. It was built in 1840 by Louis-David Allègre and abandoned when the railway arrived.

The thirty or so huts, coloured yellow, blue or green, house the equipment needed to grow oysters. This atypical site is composed of 2 darses (equivalent to streets) in the middle of which you will find many empty oyster bags, drying. At the beginning of the summer, the whitewashed tiles contribute to the decoration and authenticity of the port. They are used for shellfish collection in the parks. The only boats present, the "plates" or "barges", are used at the tide by the oyster farmers. Revenues loaded with oyster bags, the shells are then refined in the "claires" (filled with fresh water).

An orientation table at the end of the oyster port's west dock! This allows visitors to better orient themselves and appreciate the beauty of the Arcachon Basin, while discovering the surrounding tourist sites and communes. The site of Quinconces remains one of the few "wild" places of the coast north Basin offering a magnificent panoramic view to discover The Pointe des Quinconces, protected and listed in the picturesque heritage of the Gironde, was the favorite walk of Sarah Bernhardt during his stay in Andernos-les-Bains. You can see the old fish tanks dug in 1840 by David Allègre, known for having built the first steam trawler in the world, "the Turbot", in Arès.
