You will find, at the start of the stadium, the Nordic walking routes on a large reception panel common to the 5 proposed circuits to warm you up and acquire the technique. You can practice freely. If you are initiated and you have your own sticks you can go there freely. These routes are pleasant and slightly hilly, on paths, tracks and country roads. The most courageous hikers will enter the forest of Lanmary where they will see the castle of Caussade, an advanced post protecting the axis Limoges-Périgueux.

The Vézelay route is one of the great pilgrimage routes used by a thousand pilgrims each year who come from the north of Europe before entering France and reaching Vézelay, one of the great departures identified for the French routes. Leaving Périgueux, your steps will lead you to Chancelade where you can admire the abbey founded in 1132. You will then arrive at Les Andrivaux, a former Templar commandery, and after the calm of the forest, then the peace of the canal, you will notice the church of Saint Blaise and the miraculous fountain at Annesse and Beaulieu. Then there is Saint Astier and its church. The crypt of the XI th century shelters the tomb of the saint.

In 1908, a young English student, T E Lawrence, became fascinated with the medieval period. He decided to cycle around France on the trail of Richard the Lionheart. This third stage will take us from Périgueux to Hautefort, passing through the picturesque village of Le Change, gathered around its church. It belonged to the châtellenie of Auberoche. One of the great battles of the Hundred Years' War took place here in 1345. Going up to the chapel by the small road, the remains of the fortress dismantled in the 15th century give a glimpse of its former power. Going up the valley of the Auvézère, Lawrence will go to Forge d'Ans where thousands of cannons were sunk for the Royal Navy. Then on to Tourtoirac and its 11th century abbey. Finally, Lawrence arrives at Hautefort, whose castle was besieged by Richard the Lionheart in 1183.

This small semi-urban hike takes you to discover the ancient Périgueux and one of the seven hills that surround the city thanks to a ferry to cross the river (out of service in winter).

A little further on, on a towpath, you will see the "maladrerie" which was once used as a shelter for the sick and the homeless. Then take the bicycle path parallel to the stadium path.
