Situated on the Causse de Thenon, the village of Ajat is built on a hillside. A church and an imposing medieval castle seem to watch over the houses of the village. The Romanesque church of Ajat is in the center of the village. It has a single nave, topped by a 4-bay bell tower, and has undergone numerous modifications over the centuries which have not altered its general appearance.

In the heart of a 50ha estate of meadows and forest where the stone-built farmhouse has not been modified for more than a century. We have chosen an outbuilding which was originally used as a shepherd’s hut and later as a plum drying shed. The restoration of this building has just been completed. We propose a studio of 24m² with a half separation between the kitchen area and the sleeping area, a bathroom with Italian shower and toilet. Optional fees: cleaning (20€), sheet rental (9€/bed), bathroom linen rental (4€/pers), kitchen linen rental (3€).

The church was built in the 12th century. Church Saint Eulalie in Ste Eulalie d'ans Name Concerning a Christian martyr who died at the beginning of the 4th century. The plan is simple, elongated. The facade consists of a bell wall pierced with four bell bays and a portal with multiple arches without tympanum.

Its construction in Romanesque style dates back to the end of the 11th or the beginning of the 12th century. The choir remains. The bell-wall and the nave, later, probably date from the end of the 16th century. Medieval church Romanesque church that was originally connected to the castle. Only two square bays remain, following a semicircular apse in the cul de four. A third span, which was destroyed, established the link with one of the castle's dungeons. The church was vaulted in domes which have now been demolished. On top of the triumphal arch rises a bell tower with arches. Inside, the apse is decorated with arches on columns. The exterior is polygonal. The interior floor has been raised. The western wall is of later construction than the church and seems to have been raised after the destruction of the bay that joined the church to the castle. Open daily from 9:30 am to 8 pm.
