A family walk through the meadowsPark in the car park of the multi-purpose hall and go to the church, the walk's starting point.Follow the D138, which runs alongside the church on the right. Go through the village of Pradinas. Turn right towards La Fage. Leave "Chez le Vacher" on your right and go to La Fage.In the village, continue straight on; at the Les Fabres bread oven, leave the road and take the track on the right. Turn left at the next fork to join a road.Follow it to the left. In the bend, continue on the road towards Les Chabannes. 100 m after the Les Chabannes, leave the road and turn right onto the track. Stay on the main track to reach the road.Follow it to the right for 100 metres and, at the sign for La Plate, take the track to the right. This road leads to the village of "Chez Bailly" and « Marcy ».At the village « Le Fraysse », take the little road called « Chemin aux Coustaux » which becomes a path and after a house goes across the pastureland. At the road, turn left.Cross the road departmental and take the path opposite. This short path leads to the road; turn right and reach the starting point again.

 A characteristic Romanesque church from the 12th century, Notre Dame de Veyrières depended in the Middle Ages on the priory of Port-Dieu (Confolent-Port-Dieu, in Corrèze). Its bell is the oldest in Corrèze (1466). Moreover, the quadrangular shape of its bell tower is unusual in this department, where the wall belfry (wall pierced with arches in which the bells swing) is the rule

Once you arrive in this hamlet, you will see an old traditional bread oven. A few steps further on, a sweeping panorama reveals a wetland, under which the sources of the Étang Noir are hidden.

This small Romanesque church dates from the 12th century. It features many decorative elements: a cornice decorated with corbels, a voussoir portal framed by moldings, and the door retains fragments of Romanesque paintings. The bell tower houses one of the oldest bells in the department, dated 1476. Recent restoration work has brought to light a remarkable painted decoration: a funerary liter, adorned with heraldic escutcheons running along the walls, and polychrome geometric motifs highlighting the architecture of the nave windows.

The village was once a dependency of the priory of Port-Dieu, then attached to the bishopric of Tulle. The granite Romanesque church opens with a poly-lobed portal sheltered by a deep porch covered by a barrel vault. It comprises a single nave, a choir ending in a semi-circular apse with a cul-de-four vault. To the south, a chapel opens into the third bay of the nave. It communicates with a second chapel opening onto the choir. The capitals of the apse are also sculpted (palmettes, interlaced stars).

The village was once a dependency of the priory of Port Dieu and was called St-Bonnet-Port Dieu until 1871 before taking its present name. Notice the beautiful juxtaposition of the church and the Sully tree: Sully, a minister of Henri IV, is said to have ordered the mayors of the kingdom to have a tree planted in front of the main door of the churches so that the parishioners could discuss, before and after the service, their interests and those of the parish under the shade.

The twelfth-century Romanesque church has a striking feature. The quadrangular bell tower, pierced by geminated bays, rises above the choir instead of, as in the others, above the portal, which is formed of four arches. The triumphal arch is supported by two columns with corbelled capitals: one adorned with knotwork, the other with two apocalyptic monsters.

The villages of Limousin were all strongly involved in agriculture. Walking through these hamlets always produces interesting discoveries during a hike: barns, mansions, crosses and monuments, traditional local architecture... In Fumarettas, don't miss the old bread oven and the spring a little after the village.

This hike offers a magnificent view of the Monts du Cantal. This massif is, in fact, the remnant of a stratovolcano born 13 million years ago, the largest in Europe, eroded by collapse and glacial erosion. Note a little further on the summit after the village of Pailler and the view of the Sancy and the Cantal.

Situated at the bottom of valleys, often in spring areas or on the bank of a stream that is barely flowing, wet meadows provide small reserves of fodder in times of drought. Livestock finds food there during periods of very hot and dry weather. They are easily recognised by the presence of rushes, tufts of grass with long leafless stems. In the spring, these areas are also good for dragonflies.
