Created in 2008, the Bayart gallery specialises in modern and contemporary art. With the main focus on sculpture in general and figurative sculpture in particular, Caroline and Thomas Bayart flaunt their preference for 20th-century and contemporary artists. They passionately support and admire sculptors Christophe Charbonnel and Patrick Villa, whose works they exhibit exclusively, promoting and accompanying these artists in their ambition to produce monumental pieces. With sculpture taking pride of place, their work goes hand in hand with their love of drawing which has led them to exhibit artists of complementary talents, close to the world of illustration. The gallery in Le Touquet differs from the Parisian version in that its individual and collective exhibitions follow a much more dynamic programme. The gallery represents contemporary artists and a wide variety of mediums: painting, photography, drawing, design, sculpture, installation, etc. The gallery opens from 10.30am to 1pm and from 2.30pm to 7pm. Montreuil origins are closely linked to religious history. Its name is coming from a latin word ‘monasteriolum’ that means ‘small monastery’. In 926 AD, monks of the abbey of Landévennec (Brittany) ran away because of Norman invasions and found refuge in Montreuil to found the abbey of Saint-Walloy (strange other local name for Saint-Guénolé). In 1111 AD, that abbey was renamed when Saint-Saulve relics were brought. In Middle-Ages, pilgrims were attracted by numerous relics and provided a character of sanctity to the town. It was called then the ‘Ponthieu Necropolis’. In 1467, a natural catastrophe caused the collapse of six religious monuments at least including the Hôtel-Dieu and the Saint-Saulve Church. The last monument was entirely rebuilt in the very beginning of the 16th century. But it was only a short respite: the armies of Charles Quint set the church on fire when the town had been attacked. It was partly rebuilt because of the financial cost. The whole Sacred Art Treasure disappeared in 1793. Saint-Austreberthe relics including a richly decorated pastoral crosier were placed indoors after the French Revolution. In the 19th century, the addition of other relics makes the whole sacred treasure one of the richest of the North of France. It is possible to see a part of it during a visit inside the Abbey Church.

The Citadel considered as a military fortress, was declared historic monument and wants to remember the military life from Middle Ages to the Great World. Way Side Villa Located in the heart of the forest, the Museum of Touquet-Paris-Plage created in 1932, plunges the visitor into the art of modernity from the late nineteenth century to the present day. Place of character in Anglo-Norman style, the Way Side villa built in 1925, offers an atypical course sandstone rooms decorated with woodwork and warm atmosphere. The collections The museum houses the collections of the painters of the School of Etaples, photographic portraits of celebrities of the early twentieth century or artistic evidence of the history of the station. It also has a collection of modern and contemporary works of art including an exceptional collection representative of the greatest French artists from the 1950s to 1970s. Exhibitions The museum punctuates the seasons alternately presenting the permanent collection, around thematic singular clashes, and temporary exhibitions of great figures of French painting of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, in echo or counterpoint to the collection. Lionel Fibleuil began his career in Paris in 1995 when he worked for a contemporary art gallery created by his childhood friend in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. There he discovered, among other artists, Robert Combas, Théo Tobiasse and Paul Aizpiri, who would later have a decisive influence on his sales career. He opened his first gallery in 1998, alongside his brokerage business, before devoting himself entirely to art galleries in 2016 when he opened his own on Place de l’Hermitage in Le Touquet: Art Gallery Design. Lionel invites you to discover the works of Robert Combas, Hervé Di Rosa and Bernard Buffet, as well as paintings by Martine Coloos for whom he is agent. The gallery also participates in contemporary art shows: Lille Art’up and Art Touquet.

Located in the old fish market, the Marine Museum tells the story of a century of the life and work of seafarers in Étaples. Discover the evolution of ships and developments in fishing techniques, habitat, arts and crafts, traditional costumes, religion and rescue. Then climb onto the footbridge of the Saint Josse, an old Étaples trawler.
