Au Fil de L'Eau - B23

A valley bottom course along the water and in the undergrowth ideal for families and on hot days. This 12 km loop is suitable for all types of hikers. The fairly low elevation allows beginners, children and trained walkers to discover various environments in an Alpine valley. The route follows a few small sections of road but the majority of the hike takes place in the forest and at the water's edge. The loop begins at the Aigueblanche bridge (450m) and takes a well laid out and flat path along the Isère where a few benches are installed. Bird watching is quite common. You can also start the hike from the spa resort of La Léchère, or from the Morel swimming pool in Aigueblanche At the confluence with the Morel torrent, the route branches off to the left via a small undergrowth path along the numerous waterfalls that mark out this tumultuous stream. You cross the departmental road for the first time. At the Bellecombe bridge, after a second road crossing, you can continue on your choice on the 2 banks of the Morel. A botanical trail on your left, or an interpretation trail on the Morel facilities on your right. There is a picnic area on the left path. A belvedere (610m) allows the end of the path, on each bank, to admire the Morel Waterfall, falling more than 80 meters high. From the path on the right, walkers will then access via a small path to a beautiful panorama (625m) over the village of Saint-Oyen and the lower Tarentaise. Please note, this portion is also frequented by downhill mountain bikes. Then, begin the crossing of Saint-Oyen before diving into the forest which leads to the Bois Chaniet site by a small path in the shade and during which it is possible to observe various animals, ungulates, birds or insects for the luckiest or the most observant. Chemin du Bois Chaniet then offers other botanical signs. It is also possible to observe vestiges of vine terraces today partially covered by vegetation. Workout-type workshops also mark the trail. A gentle descent makes it possible to reach the edge of the Isère which the walkers will follow while crossing the Thermal Park of La Léchère-les-Bains. All that remains is to return to the Aigueblanche bridge by the Berges de l'Isère path, via the Morel swimming pool and the wooden walkway over the Morel torrent. The loop can be done in both directions and is also practiced in trail. Environment: deciduous forest, waterfront Points of interest: forest environment, wildlife observation, thermal baths of La Léchère-les-Bains, Morel waterfalls, panoramas on the lower Tarentaise. Total distance: 12 km (10 km if variant without the banks of the Isère) Elevation + total: 250 m Estimated duration: 3h30 to 4h00

La Léchère thermal baths

In optimal comfort conditions, the Thermes (entirely renovated) offer different care techniques that act locally or on general shape. Located 440 m above sea level, the spa resort of Léchère-les-Bains enjoys an exceptional environment. It is approved for three therapeutic orientations (Phlebology, Rheumatology, Gynecology), it offers 18-day courses and 6-day mini-cures whose effectiveness has been recognized by the scientific studies of CRULL (the University Research Center of La Léchère) located in the thermal area and led by Professor Patrick Carpentier, Head of the department of arterial diseases, venous, lymphatic and microcirculation at Grenoble University Hospital. LÉCHÈRE-LES-BAINS THERMAL SPA, 120 YEARS OF THERMAL EXPERTISE IN RHEUMATOLOGY, PHLEBOLOGY, TREATMENT OF LYMPHOEDEMA AND GYNECOLOGY Spa treatments of 3 weeks at La Léchère-les-Bains are recommended for phlebological (venous insufficiency, lymphatic insufficiency) and rheumatologic diseases (osteoarthritis in all its localizations, chronic synovial lesions, sequelae of osteoarticular trauma). One of the particularities of La Léchère is to be able to associate the treatment of these various pathologies. The treatment with double orientation is recommended for the sake of efficiency and comprehensive care of the patient: it can treat two pathologies during a spa treatment to accelerate the return of well-being. It is prescribed by your general practitioner, or specialist, and is dispensed 6 days out of 7. CONTRAINDICATIONS TO THE THERMAL CURE Cardiac, renal and hepatic insufficiency in the decompensation stage. Immunodepression related to dysimmune diseases and certain treatments (corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, biotherapies): take medical advice from your doctor and a spa doctor. Behavioral disorders and difficulties of adaptation to spa treatments. Very limited mobility Evolutionary cancer. Venous thrombosis (phlebitis) or open ulcer of the leg are not contraindications to the spa treatment of La Léchère; however, please inform your spa doctor when making an appointment.

Historical Center of Moûtiers

Historical Center of Moûtiers

Discover the historic center of Moûtiers: its pedestrian street and its shops, the medieval streets, the squares, the old bridge, the old archbishop's palace, the cathedral ... Visits for groups on request or free visits all year round. During the visit you will discover one of the emblematic sites of the city. The old bridge or Saint-Pierre bridge built in 1785 and classified as a Historic Monument since 1980. It is the oldest bridge in the city. It already existed in Roman times. Very often rebuilt due to the heavy floods of Isère in the 18th century in particular. Below, you will see a passage called barrioz that the washerwomen used to do their laundry. These barrioz were closed in the evening by barriers (hence their name) in order to avoid unwanted intrusions into the city from the banks. This circuit will reveal many other curiosities linked to the history of the city. For the little story : Moûtiers, known as Darantasia in the Roman era, was the historical capital of the Tarentaise (IIès). At the crossroads of the Valleys and located on the old Roman road linking Milan to Vienna (38), the town was often frequented by pilgrims on their way to visit the tombs of the apostles in Rome, as well as by merchants and soldiers. Home to what is now a thousand-year-old cathedral, Moûtiers had a bishop right from the 5th century, when the bishops became archbishops before being awarded the honorific title of ‘Comte de Tarentaise’in the Middle Ages. A major religious centre, the town’s name doubtless comes from“Monsaterium”: the word for the collected spaces of the cathedral, archbishop’s palace and cloisters. Guided tours are organized by the Savoie-Mont-Blanc Heritage Guides for groups. Guided tours are organized in summer.
