The Promenade de Kembs is a voyage into the past, which takes you from the Grand Canal d’Alsace to Tulla's Rhine of the 19th century.

This route runs along the north-eastern edge of the Sundgau, which falls rather abruptly onto the alluvial plain of the Rhine. It allows you to discover Habsheim, an old town well known for its Simon and Jude autumn market. It is also a pleasant corner of the countryside where you can find old preserved orchards, a few vineyards that bear witness to the wealth of yesteryear and which offer beautiful views of the Hardt forest, Basel, the Black Forest, the Vosges, the Jura and even the Alps.

On 3 August, 1914, Germany declared war on France, Alsace had been German since 1871. Three marked out trails relate the fighting of August 1914 which took place in this area. They are embellished with panels that provide testimonies, present fallen troops, and place the battles that were designed to take over Alsace in their context. Departures from Wittersdorf (8.4 km), Luemschwiller/Obermorschwiller (6 km) km), Heiwiller/Tagsdorf (7 km).

Going from Palmenhart Hill to Geissberg Hill, one discovers part of the battlefield where French and German troops clashed on 19 August 1914, at the beginning of the First World War. Eight explanatory plaques detail the military events that took place at that time. You also pass through the village of Flaxlanden, which preserves an interesting historical heritage, including several stone houses dating from before 1630.

The charming little marina at Kembs is the ideal starting point for this perfect family ride. You will be surrounded by nature as you pedal on waymarked paths alongside the sunny banks of the waterway and on shady tracks through the forest of Hardt.

International route of 193 km (including 45 km in the Sundgau region), created in 1996, offering a loop through France, Switzerland and Germany on either side of the Rhine. DEPARTING FROM LAUSANNE, HEAD TO THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF GRUYÈRES, HOME TO THE FAMOUS SWISS CHEESE! Departing from Lausanne, head to the medieval town of Gruyères, home to the famous Swiss cheese!  Leave Lausanne by bus and climb up into the alpine pastures to reach Gruyères.  After a tour around the town, your guide will take you to a Swiss chocolate factory to show you how famous Swiss chocolate is made.  Then head to an old alpine cheese factory. Enjoy a Swiss cheese tasting and learn more about the national dish: fondue.  Learn to make your own Swiss fondue and try the traditional dish.  After your meal, relax and climb on board the Golden Express, a panoramic train which crosses the alpine pastures and the heights of Lake Geneva. Enjoy incredible views of the lake and the Alps. When you get off the train, get back on your bus and head to Lavaux and its terraced vineyards. Discover the town of Evian during a return cruise from Lausanne! DISCOVER THE TOWN OF EVIAN DURING A ROUND-TRIP CRUISE FROM LAUSANNE! Climb on board and set off across the calm waters of Lake Geneva. You'll reach the town of Evian after a 45-minute crossing.  Once you have arrived you will be able to freely explore the town, famous the world over for its sources of mineral water. 

Bell tower of the former church of Dietwiller, dating from the 13th century. Two old locust trees ("false acacias") have grown on the site of the former nave which has disappeared. Next to the car park, you can admire a remarkable lime tree, the "freedom tree", dating from the period of the Revolution.

Until the 1960s, a network of paths linked the main street to the river. The term "Schlupf" means "narrow passage" and is used for this kind of narrow passage between two buildings. The oldest house, No. 58, dates from the 16th century (renovated in the 18th century).

Several old houses line the rue du Général de Gaulle. Among the oldest, those at numbers 61b and 72, date from the second half of the 17th century. Some of these houses seem particularly low. It should be noted that the village street was one metre lower when these houses were built.

This site was used in the past to store materials, in particular snow removal salt, hence its name. Fruit trees maintained by the association of arboriculturists recall the landscapes of the village belts made up of orchards and meadows.

Although the church of St. Nicholas is not a very old monument (1881), it is worth noting that it houses a clock movement from the firm Ungerer Frères of Strasbourg in its bell tower. This clock was installed in the bell tower in 1893. It is still in working order. The presbytery next to the church dates from 1619: it was a former Renaissance-style farmhouse that was bequeathed to the bishopric to allow the construction of the new church.

The highest point of the walk. To the north, the Vosges range with the Grand Ballon, to the east the beginning of the Black Forest range and to the south the beginning of the Swiss Jura range.

This pontoon links the sports area, the nursery school and the car park in the centre of the village with the walking circuit.

A witness to the viticulture that was once widespread in our region (Rixheim, Habsheim, Eschentzwiller, etc.), it was unfortunately destroyed in the 1970s. A small dry stone wall was built at this place as a reminder.

Dietwiller was once a "village-street". The historic houses of the village are therefore located directly along this axis.

The ponds on this route are managed by fishing associations and are only accessible to members of the associations.
