This cycling tour will enable you to discover the remarkable - and often little-known - natural and cultural heritage of a department rich in remarkable and surprising sites! From the valley of the Creuse painters to Lake Vassivière, via Aubusson, the Etang des Landes nature reserve, the medieval towns of La Souterraine, Bénévent l?Abbaye and Bourganeuf, or the abbey church of Chambon/Voueize and the spa town of Evaux les Bains, you'll discover a countryside of ever-changing landscapes along the back roads. The Tour de la Creuse by bike is 100% discovery, and the assurance that you won?t get bored on a varied itinerary suitable for all types of cyclists, from families to seasoned sportsmen and women. There's something for everyone!

On either side of the Sédelle, this loop reveals a little-known heritage of the Crozant region: its countless stone crosses scattered along roadsides and intersections, in the heart of hamlets or in the countryside.

Departure from parking lot, rue Armand Guillaumin. A route of great variety, between railroad por-tions (la Chapelle Baloue, Vaussujean) and technical singletracks (le Perthuis, Mazérolles). You'll have the privilege of riding up the valley of the painters (Crozant, le pont Charraud). There's a wet section in winter between the villages of Maisons and Crozant. Don't forget to stop for lunch at Crozant, where the panorama is magnificent.

Departure from Espace Monet Rollinat, Allée Fernand Maillaud, Fresselines. This interpretive trail invites walkers to follow the artist on a short 3 km loop, punctuated by bookmarks featuring Monet's works and extracts from letters to friends and companions... Follow the yellow markers with the palette. Take the suspension bridge to cross the Petite Creuse, then the "wooden bridge" to return to the original riverbank. Return via the village.

On the edge of the Indre, adjacent to Aigurande, the commune features 3 very different landscape units: to the west, the steep-sided valley of La Petite Creuse, overlooked by the village of Lignaud, with traces of a very ancient past; in between, a tightly-knit, wooded, undulating bocage, criss-crossed by numerous streams, with beautiful vistas. The area is dotted with numerous villages, some of them quite substantial, such as Lignaud and Les Chaumes. A surprising number of village crosses and pathways, in stone, wood or iron, dot the commune. An unusual feature: the commune has two Monuments aux Morts (war memorials), one in the village and one in the hamlet of Villechiron. The writer George Henry (1896-1906), whose real name was Henriette Jeanne Bruner, was a regular visitor to the hamlet of Piodon.

Departure place de la mairie Nouzerolles. One of the prettiest walks in the Pays Ouest Creuse, around the village of Nouzerolles. After a glance at the Chapelle at the start of the route, you arrive at the Petite Creuse rise: magical! Take your time climbing back up to Puy Balièbre, and after about 1km, watch out for the very wet passage.

The "Mésou Neuve" gite, rated 3*, is located in a renovated, character farmhouse with heated indoor pool. The gite is surrounded by fields and free-range pets (horses, dwarf goats, Ouessant sheep, dwarf chickens, etc.). Le Petit Gîte Creusois is located in the hamlet of Bridiers, very close to La Souterraine. Just a few hundred meters from the Gîte, you'll discover the Tour de Bridiers, the emblematic site of the Fresque de Bridiers, a lively show held every early August. For anglers, the 5-hectare Etang du Cheix is the ideal fishing spot. Numerous footpaths and hiking trails a short distance from the gîte will enable you to discover the flora and fauna of the Creuse. Situated on the route de Saint-Jacques from Vézelay, enjoy the countryside, yet only 2 km from all shops and services. This accommodation can accommodate a family of 4 and a baby.

Set in a small hamlet, the gîte has its back to the hamlet road and Colette's house. It opens onto a shaded terrace and a very large meadow (petanque court, portico). At the gable end of the house is a large enclosed terrace with private heated swimming pool (9 x 4.5m) open from May to September (weather permitting), shower and toilet.

We took over the family farm, which has been organic for almost 25 years, in north Creuse on the border with Indre, where we grow a varied range of vegetables. We also raise Limousin cows and grow cereals and fodder to feed them, so as to be as self-sufficient as possible. We offer a gîte on the farm, where you can enjoy the beauty of our bocage and the peace and quiet of the countryside.

This Romanesque church, dedicated to Saint-Léon, was rebuilt in 1942 and inaugurated in 1943. The former church is thought to have been built in the 12th century. This church is rectangular. The portal, the right chevet wall and three flat Romanesque buttresses remain. The north door, once preceded by a wooden canopy, has a broken line and is molded with a torso (14th century). The sacristy has an exterior door with an accolade. The bell tower is of timber-framed construction.

Overlooking the Creuse valley, the sheer cliffs of the rocher de la fileuse offer a breathtaking view of the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers and the Crozant fortress. A favorite spot for the painters of the Crozant school, the rocher de la fileuse will also delight rock-climbers and hikers, thanks to its location on the GR de pays de Val de Creuse. Les gargalhous, the Occitan term for the fruit of the dog rose, is a fitting name for this garden, which features a collection of antique, botanical and some modern roses. The garden is designed like an impressionist canvas, where the harmony of colors and shapes is essential. A colorist's garden, the roses are accompanied by perennials and rare shrubs, as well as bulbs from April to October.

On a granite outcrop, the ruins of the fortress overlook the confluence of two rivers. Centre of the struggles between Lusignan, Capétien and Plantagenêt, idealised by George Sand, immortalised by the painters, the site is protected and classified as historical and natural heritage.

This romanesque church dates back from the XIIth century and was classified Historical Monument in 1933. Above the door of the North chapel you can see the coat of arm of the Aubusson family (a cruce). Near the church, in the "Puy Chopeline" there is very old tombstones.

La Belle aventure is a little corner of paradise entirely renovated in 2022. It's a family business located at La Chaise Gonnot in the commune of Fresselines. The 2-storey gite sleeps 8, with every possible comfort. The gite has a swimming pool (with a safety ladder that prevents access if raised) and a second terrace. The pool is 4.80 m in diameter and 1.32 m high.

Our hotel and restaurant have a splendid view of the Creuse valley, its fortress and ruins.

"Les Toiles de Creuse" is a place in the heart of nature where calm and relaxation reign. It consists of two yurts (4 and 6 places) installed on floors. Two pitches for caravans and motorhomes are available, with water, electricity and access to shared areas (shower, kitchen, reception) We can accommodate up to 20 people. Each yurt has its own private toilet. The sleeping quarters contain beds with comforters and pillows, closet and furniture. You also have access to shared facilities, including : -A sanitary/kitchen block comprising a shower/sink area and a disabled toilet, 2 ordinary showers and 3 sinks. The kitchen area contains a sink, oven/gas stove, fridge, cooking utensils (pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc.) and kitchen utensils
