Head to the Mont des Avaloirs lookout point, the highest point in the Armorican Massif in the Grand Ouest at 416m, to admire the forests of the Mayenne and Orne. Local shops (bakery, mini-market, bank, etc.) are 5km away in Saint Pierre des Nids. The nearest major town is Alençon, 21km away. Built on former sarcophagus in the beginning of the 12th century. Built in sandstone and granite, on a rocky promontory. Frescos from the 12th and 14th centuries, restored in 2006. Nearby, in a vast grassland, The Saint-Cénéri little chapel (15th century) on the site of the Saint ermite’s oratory. Stained glasse created in 2007 by Cathy Van Hollebeke. The church is open every day through the year. The chapel is open from Juin to September (call before coming).

On an area of more than 35 000m², a plantation of 291 trees were made in 1997. The first part puts together 8 different types of trees (leaves and pins) and after a few turns, you can discover the second part fully dedicated to the oaks. Explanation boards allow you to discover on your own the different trees. Access of the garden by the Koutiala boulevard.

Alençon Museum of Fine Arts and Lace occupies a prestigious setting within the Cour Carrée de la Dentelle, the town's former Jesuit school. The major attraction of the collections is the outstanding presentation of needlepoint, especially the prestigious "Point d'Alençon". The technique for making this lace has been on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2010. The fine arts section has a permanent display of works from French, Italian and Scandinavian schools from the 17th to the 20th century: Boudin, Courbet, Fantin-Latour, Monanteuil, etc. Visitors will be amazed at the exceptional Cambodian collection from the last century.

The birthplace of Saint Thérèse - the house of her sainted parents Louis and Zélie - is open to visitors, giving an authentic look at how life was in those times. The guided tour follows the lives of the Martin family - Saints Louis and Zélie, Saint Thérèse de Lisieux and her sisters - through 5 locations around Alençon: the hall, with its historic gallery, the exhibition of personal items, the auditorium, the house and the chapel. A film based on family correspondence shows us family life in Alençon where she lived between 1871 and 1877. The setting recreates the atmosphere and youth of the young saint. The chapel celebrates Sainte Thérèse in sculpture and frescoes and opens into the room where Thérèse was born. It was also here that Saint Zélie drew her final breath. The tour ends with the shop and welcome area. There is a lift to the first floor and the chapel. Audio-guided tour. The chapel is open every day from 8am to 6pm.

The regular overflowing of the river Sarthe miraculously spared this area from the development undergone by its surroundings; the Fuie des Vignes is a wild natural area located between two districts in Alençon. Monitored by naturalists for over a century, thanks to the Alençon local authorities, the site is now appropriately managed to preserve its remarkable biodiversity. Trail open all year round. The "Les Gateys" National Necropolis is dedicated to the soldiers of the French 2nd Armoured Division (2e D.B.), who died in the fighting to liberate the Orne area. The division, commanded by General Philippe Leclerc de Hautecloque, landed on 1 August 1944 at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville in Utah sector. Its involvement in the fight to liberate French territory was highly symbolic. It took part in the fierce fighting that led to the encirclement of German troops in the Falaise Pocket. The division went on to play a role in the liberation of Paris. This military cemetery - now a National Necropolis - holds the remains of 19 soldiers. The coexistence of Latin crosses with stele bearing the crescent of Islam and the Star of David is testimony to the spirit of union and comradeship of the 2nd Armoured Division.
