Wild fauna and flora are part of our local heritage. Called "ordinary biodiversity", these species are often ignored or poorly known by the inhabitants, both young and old. This 12 km discovery trail is punctuated by 44 panels designed by the Fédération Départementale des Chasseurs and set up in partnership with the municipality. Each panel presents an animal or plant species of the Deux-Sèvres. For the plants: flowers, fruits and leaves, but also the use made of them by Man or animals are presented. These "plant kingdom" panels are positioned near the plants they describe. The panels of the "animal kingdom" present the description of the animal, its habits, its diet and its reproduction, as well as the footprints and the signs of presence, which allow to detect their passage.

Come and discover the fauna and flora of the largest lake in the Deux-Sèvres department, which is both a drinking water reserve (a water treatment plant is associated with the dam) and an ornithological reserve. Property of the Conseil général des Deux-Sèvres, the Cébron lake offers a multitude of landscapes changing with the seasons. It presents an important biological richness and shelters in particular numerous species of birds. Come and discover its biodiversity by taking advantage of the many nature activities offered on the site (nature outings, exhibitions, hiking, fishing, sailing...)! Let yourself be surprised by the treasures of Romanesque art in the Thouet valley. From the Petite Cité de Caractère of Airvault you will also discover the treasures of Saint-Généroux, Marne and Saint-Jouin-de-Marne. A 35 km circuit in the heart of the Thouet valley. Departure from the Halles d'Airvault.

Discover this charming little town of character. You will start this walk in front of the Tourist Office of Airvault, near the 19th century covered market. From here, you can see the façade of the Saint-Pierre abbey, the half-timbered houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, the access to the underground fountain (you can ask for the key free of charge at the Tourist Office in exchange for an ID) and the highest tower of the town's castle. You will continue this discovery by going to the municipal museum Jacques Guidez, presenting an exhibition with arts and popular traditions. Then take a step up to the Old Castle, a private property, which gives you a superb panorama of the town from its threshold.

From the medieval town, join the Thouet and discover on your way the architectural testimonies of the XIXth and XXth century (Art Nouveau house, Sénéchaux castle...). Your return by the footbridge of Catalogne will allow you to join the Saint Jérôme suburb and the picturesque district of the Old Castle, seat of the temporal power of the city in the Middle Ages. The booklet "Les chemins d'Aldéarde" is available for sale at the Tourist Office of Airvault, at the Jacques Guidez museum in Airvault and at the town hall. Then follow the medallions of Aldéarde to discover the treasures of the "Petite Cité de Caractère".

Discover the Saint-Pierre abbey church, the conventual buildings and the abbey church which houses the ethnographic museum. Then, join the Place des Promenades for a 1.5 km walk to discover the Petite Cité de Caractère. REBONDS and EQUI'SEVRES, in partnership with the CD79, have set up an organic market-gardening farm using animal traction, to help young people on the margins of society to build their future through contact with horses and life. The organic market garden farm is located at Hôpiteau de Boussais. Vegetables, eggs and preserves for sale by reservation, animal-drawn services, maintenance of natural areas and firewood. La Ferme de La Riberderie is present every Wednesday at the market on Place des Halles in Cerizay, selling seasonal vegetables, processed products (soups, jams, coulis, confits, etc.) and eggs. Two picnic tables facing a pond, a pleasant place for a picnic break, close to the stadium l'Hôpitalau (Boussais)! Take the opportunity to discover the ponds of the hospital, Natural and Sensitive Space, it is a remarkable site in the region. Today, it is of floristic and faunistic interest with the presence of numerous birds such as pitchous warblers, dragonflies or crested newts. A 2.5 km trail, marked out with educational panels, allows the discovery of the site.

The communaux de l'Hôpiteau are the remnants of a landscape once widespread in the Poitou region: heathland, known here as "brande". The broom heather of which it is composed was much used by man, who grazed the communaux and extracted clay from them for use in tile and brick works. The 300 ponds scattered across this moorland landscape bear witness to this activity, making the communaux an exceptional natural heritage site. Today, it is home to numerous birds, including pitchous warblers, dragonflies and great crested newts. A 2.5 km trail, with educational panels, has been created to discover this site, and the leaflet is available from Tourist Offices. A nature outing is scheduled for May 18, for details see "Events".

A 12th century castle, fortified in 1386. The present building dates from the late 15th or early 16th century. The communal buildings are accompanied by a dovecote with a circular floor plan, decorated with the arms of the Vignerot family. The church is home to the marble recumbents of René de Vignerot and his wife Françoise du Plessis de Richelieu, sister of the Cardinal. Executed around 1625 and attributed to Michel II Bourdin. The upper parts of the chapel are defensive.

The church of St. Martin dates back to the 11th century with construction beginning around 1030-1050. The church was enlarged, transformed, restored and modified until the 15th century. In the 19th century the fortifications of the bell tower dating from the 100-year war were removed. The baptistery dates from the 1960s. The church, by its shape, its hold and its proportions is remarkable. The church is built mainly in granite from the Aubiers with some parts in white limestone not coming from the region. An abundance of painted plaster statuary from the 19th century testifies to the religious devotion of this period. The oldest stained glass windows date from the 19th century, the most recent ones are from the 1960s.

Brasserie Obeline has been based in Airvault since January 2024. It offers unfiltered and unpasteurized craft beers, the result of the expertise of Arnaud Rivière, brewer since 2010. You can find its beers at the Airvault market on Saturday mornings, at retailers such as l'épicerie, Place Saint-Pierre in Airvault, and in local restaurants.

Claire runs a 3-hectare market-garden farm, including a 2,000 m2 greenhouse, producing a variety of vegetables (potatoes, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes) as well as red berries. Sales by order on Fridays from 5 to 6 p.m. directly from the farm, on Tuesdays at Parthenay sous les Halles, sales at the Biau Panier association, by reservation, from 6 to 7 p.m., or at the Airvault market on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
