The Tour de la Creuse à vélo, a 327km signposted route, awaits you to discover Creuse from west to east and north to south! This cycling tour will enable you to discover the remarkable - and often little-known - natural and cultural heritage of a department rich in remarkable and surprising sites! From the valley of the Creuse painters to Lake Vassivière, via Aubusson, the Etang des Landes nature reserve, the medieval towns of La Souterraine, Bénévent l?Abbaye and Bourganeuf, or the abbey church of Chambon/Voueize and the spa town of Evaux les Bains, you'll discover a countryside of ever-changing landscapes along the back roads. The Tour de la Creuse by bike is 100% discovery, and the assurance that you won?t get bored on a varied itinerary suitable for all types of cyclists, from families to seasoned sportsmen and women. There's something for everyone!

On either side of the Sédelle, this loop reveals a little-known heritage of the Crozant region: its countless stone crosses scattered along roadsides and intersections, in the heart of hamlets or in the countryside.

Departure from parking lot, rue Armand Guillaumin. A route of great variety, between railroad por-tions (la Chapelle Baloue, Vaussujean) and technical singletracks (le Perthuis, Mazérolles). You'll have the privilege of riding up the valley of the painters (Crozant, le pont Charraud). There's a wet section in winter between the villages of Maisons and Crozant. Don't forget to stop for lunch at Crozant, where the panorama is magnificent.

The 41 can be started from either the railway station or the town of San Sebastián. It's even easier than the 40, although in wet weather you'll find some muddy patches on the west side of the circuit. If you're in good shape, why not take Nos. 40 and 41?

Departure from Saint Sébastien station. The start-up consists of a nice bump (Peuchenin), followed by a nice descent. We're right in the thick of things. At the village of Marainan, the long stretch of track (shared with the 39) is pleasant and restful.

Departure from Saint Sébastien station, village of Vaussujean. This circuit of sunken lanes meanders past streams and mills, past the Fontaine Saint Jean, the church of Saint Sébastien, cutting across the Abloux at the glacis with its "Sédelle"-type rocks, and the Forges mill.

Leaving Saint Sébastien, the 42 climbs due north. Between Labetoulle and Peugue?er, the path is specially laid out for walking along the Abloux stream. On the way back, you'll find bocage landscapes and a circuit that's not too strenuous.

At the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers, this beautiful, completely detached house is located in the village of CROZANT, a peaceful, fishing village famous for the remains of its medieval fortress, the School of Impressionists, including Armand GUILLAUMIN (bust at the foot of the church), who settled in Crozant, and hiking trails such as the "Sentier des Peintres" (a 4 km loop along the Sédelle river and up into the village), the hike around the lake to the Eguzon dam (Indre) and the circuit leading to the neighboring commune where Claude MONET set up his easel in Fresselines, also the site of the Impressionist painters who came to capture the light and colors of these landscapes, the Sédelle arboretum, a "remarkable garden" in Villejoint, the intimate gardens fashioned in this same village around traditional creu houses .....

The gîte is 300 m from the Hôtel Lépinat "Hôtel des touristes", which has been converted into a heritage interpretation center, for an impressionist journey. The first interpretation trail is 400 m from the gîte. All shops are nearby. The 1930s-style house has been tastefully decorated. Anita and Ian, who are passionate about decorating, makeovers, travel objects and flowers, have created an atmosphere that combines comfort and cosy decor. A detached gîte set in enclosed grounds of around 1000m², where you can enjoy lunch or a siesta under one of the four apple trees! A garden level with 2 garages is ideal for storing bikes, fishing gear, motorcycles or cars. The raised first floor is very pleasant with its covered terrace. The rivers La Creuse and La Sedelle are within walking distance of the gîte.

La Chaise de Gonnot is a small village 8 km from all amenities. The village has a baker and a grocer. Fishing nearby in the La Creuse and La Petite Creuse rivers: a real paradise for wild trout fishermen and lovers of unspoilt nature. Lac de Chambon leisure center (13km) offers water sports activities (water skiing, buoys, beach, waterslide). Walks available from the gîte.

Overlooking the Creuse valley, the sheer cliffs of the rocher de la fileuse offer a breathtaking view of the confluence of the Creuse and Sédelle rivers and the Crozant fortress. A favorite spot for the painters of the Crozant school, the rocher de la fileuse will also delight rock-climbers and hikers, thanks to its location on the GR de pays de Val de Creuse. On a granite outcrop, the ruins of the fortress overlook the confluence of two rivers. Centre of the struggles between Lusignan, Capétien and Plantagenêt, idealised by George Sand, immortalised by the painters, the site is protected and classified as historical and natural heritage.

The Les Blaireautins forest garden is a small-scale organic farming site where agro-ecological know-how is passed on. The garden at the heart of the project covers 2,500 m2. Both a productive space and a refuge for wildlife, the garden is intended to be used as a model for other forest gardens throughout France. It is open to the public by appointment from May to November, and organizes educational workshops in all seasons (scythe practice, gentle pruning of fruit trees, designing and maintaining a forest garden, etc.). A wide range of certified organic produce is sold directly on site and at local fairs and sales points. A little further on, 2 hectares of fallow land and meadows will soon be open to the public: large-scale forest garden, wildlife and environment trail, bocage know-how.

Le Jardin des Harmonies: a 1-hectare landscaped garden, meadows and a small forest, making a total of 3 hectares. For the past 4 years, Nathalie has planted a variety of ornamental plants, edible plants and annual vegetables. You'll find local varieties, perennials and medicinal plants, a forest garden and edible hedges (over 150 different species and varieties), as well as centuries-old trees and old buildings typical of the Creus region. This romanesque church dates back from the XIIth century and was classified Historical Monument in 1933. Above the door of the North chapel you can see the coat of arm of the Aubusson family (a cruce). Near the church, in the "Puy Chopeline" there is very old tombstones.

A complete history... relived through new technology: that of landscape painters discovering the Creuse Valley with their easels and tubes of paint... that of their encounters at the inn... that of their pictorial research... and the thousands of works of art revealing the diversity of their talent and the evolution of style through time...

The former church dated the XIIth century but due to the lack of interview and because of the dilapidation of the building, the municipality decided to reconstruct totally the building. The current church, the boss of which is saint Sébastien, a martyr, was dedicated on October 7th, 1862. This neo-Romanic church is facing west. Each of the side walls is supported by foothills. The bell tower-hall is roofed in skeleton. The portal is surmounted by a Moorish arch in full round arch, by-passed by a decorated archivolt, falling again on columns committed to figurative capitals.
