The Aujour Mountain Loop, which spans two regions between the Durance and Buëch rivers, offers a 57-kilometer loop through rugged terrain in a still-wild landscape of black marl ravines, crossing the Col d'Espréaux via its northern slope. Starting from Monêtier-Allemont, cross the canal and take the D 942 to Ventavon. At the intersection of the D 942 and D 21, take the D 21 and begin the climb up the Col de Faye (934 m elevation). At the intersection of the D 21 and D 48 in Savournon, take the D 48 to Chabestan. At the D 48/D 49 intersection, follow the D 49 then the D 149 to reach the village of Saint-Auban d’Oze. In Saint-Auban d’Oze, continue on the D 149 and begin the climb up the Col des Verniers (1,035 m). Proceed to Châteauneuf-d’Oze. Take the D 20 to the Col d'Espréaux. Follow this road to the canal road. Follow the canal from Sisteron back to the starting point (Monêtier-Allemont).

All along this short, hot and wild hike, the path overlooks the Durance valley and its orchards. During the ascent, the Mediterranean vegetation and the remarkable view offer a pleasant surrounding.The  Bec de Crigne is a Natura 2000 site for the particularly rich bird  species gathering at the cliffs (107 birds species). At the end of the small road (which quickly turns into a track) and just after the fruit farm, turn right at the crossroads where the Natura 2000 information panel is located. At the departure, the path runs along the orchards. The path then goes up through the undergrowth and crosses  the river sometimes. This old mule track, carved into the rock is climbing and winding along the face of spectacular cliffs. Several viewpoints of the Durance Valley punctuate the ascent. After a long series of bends, the track turns right under the cliff and pass a breach. Continue on the left in a pleasant undergrowth and arrive under the sheepfold of Basse Crigne (950 m). In the meadow under the sheepfold, the path is almost hidden and branches off to the left (it does not go up towards the sheepfold). Continue a few meters and reach a thalweg. The trail is very pleasant, fairly flat and on a balcony. Continue direction south, through old meadows that the forest is gradually recolonizing. When leaving the forest, reach a track, cross it and take the path almost immediately opposite. The path is wild and climbs parallel to the track (on its left) in the direction of Haute Crigne (please note  carefully the markings). Reach the Haute bergerie de Crigne (1130 m). Go back down by the same route.

A lovely loop offering beautiful views of the western part of the Provence Highlands. The trail runs mainly along ridges and is relatively shaded.The church in Melve, the tower with its sighting tube, and a Geopark information panel add a cultural dimension to the hike. From Melve (839 m), take the uphill street that runs behind the church and alongside the cemetery. After the last house, the paved road turns into a dirt track as it follows a ridge. Leave the track to the left just past a water intake to follow a trail. Once on the plateau, follow the southern edge to the left, toward the Tower and its sighting tube. Continue north across the pastures to reach a ridge. A dizzying section through the marl requires some caution. The rest of the route follows the southern slope of the mountain, crossing three marl sections that can be tricky. On the ridge, take the trail to the left up to the summit. At the place called Les Croix (1,412 m), continue along the trail to the west. It follows the ridge all the way. Below Tête de Boursier (1,235 m), a short round trip (10 min) offers a beautiful view. Alternatively, take the descending trail, starting through an oak grove, then through steep pastures. A slightly steeper section through marl, followed by more shaded areas, will lead to the paved road (D 104). At Chemin de la Plane (855 m), follow the paved road toward Melve. At the hamlet of Le Serre, take the trail (a sunken path at the start) that climbs to the left. After a short walk, you’ll reach the Plateau de la Tour de Melve, leading to Point 2. Take the same path back down in the opposite direction.

This loop trail takes you past a cluster of farms that primarily raise sheep. It’s an easy hike, but the length of the route should be taken into account. An excellent mid-season hike through wide-open landscapes. In Melve, take the street opposite the church that winds its way downhill between the houses. As you leave the village, continue on to reach the Sigoyer road and follow it to the right. In the hamlet of Les Baudes, leave the road and turn left behind the houses onto a trail that, after crossing a wooded ridge, runs alongside a brand-new solar power plant, which is still under construction as of today. After a small pass near the Plaines farm, the path enters a pine forest. 800 m further on, it crosses fields (watch out for sheep) and continues along a small paved road. Leave it to the right via a trail near a power line. Descend to the footbridge spanning the Syrièz ravine and climb back up the other side to the road. A small stone cairn marks the start of this trail. Take the paved road to the right and pass in front of the Masses farm, where the road turns into a dirt track to cross the Syrièz again. A long climb follows to reach the road from Melve to Sigoyer. Follow it 150 m to the right and take a dirt track, then a trail that cuts across a bend in the road to reach Sigoyer. In Sigoyer, below the school, head up to the church square. An orientation table offers a panoramic view of Mount Lure, Mont Ventoux, and the Baronnies Provençales. An interactive kiosk tells the story of the castle. Take the stairs below the orientation table to reach a trail on the right that leads beneath the castle to the Corpatasse ridge. At Corpatasse (760 m), continue along the trail, leaving the path descending toward Les Sagnières on your right. After 200 m, the trail ends and turns into a footpath as it enters the pine forest. Once in Chantemerle, ignore the trail descending toward Thèze and Le Mouson and take the path to the right, which turns into a trail just below the old Mitouret farm. Head back up the paved road, passing in front of the Fouquetis farm, and leave it at the next bend. A trail crosses a small ravine and leads to a water intake. Continue along the track, turning left twice. Pass in front of the Verdillon farm and, still following the track, reach the Cabusse and Prédannau farms. Leave the paved road on your right and, staying on the trail, arrive at the Forest farm. Across from it, take a trail that is barely marked at first and leads into the woods until it reaches a draye (an ancient path used by sheep herds); follow it up to the ridge and continue left toward the Tât farm. Pass by a water reservoir and you’ll quickly reach the hamlet of Les Baudes, where the trail rejoins the starting point of the hike.

The Saignon Marshes are nestled in a little-known cove of the Grand Vallon. They offer a shaded family walk along the Saignon Stream. It’s a lovely short downhill path that leads to the dam and the trail back up. Well worth a visit! From the village square in La Motte-du-Caire, head north between the houses, then turn left at the foot of the housing development. The road quickly turns into a dirt track and follows the Saignon stream on the left bank.Pass the return trail on your right and continue straight ahead, moving to the right bank.Pass the downhill trail on your right again at a small dam and continue straight ahead until the next fork.This time, ignore the trail on the left and go through the ONF gate. Continue for 1.5 km.Turn right onto the trail that heads into the valley, crossing a ford. After 700 m, rejoin the ascending trail.This time, take the trail to the left for 1.3 km.Turn left onto the forest trail, then take the paved road to the left, still above the village. You’ll arrive behind the church.

This mountain bike ride takes you through Clamensane to explore Mount Blachère, which overlooks La Motte-du-Caire. After a short stretch of trail heading due south along the left bank of the Grand Vallon, take the Naples forest trail for 5.5 km.At the junction of trails 5/6/7, take the balcony trail heading due south for 1 km. Take the trail on the left and follow the series of gentle curves to Clamensane. Then take the road for 2.5 km. On the right, a trail leads you back to La Motte-du-Caire.

This 13-kilometer loop offers panoramic views of the landscapes of part of the Hautes Terres de Provence. From La Motte-du-Caire, the route climbs to the heights of Rocher Roux, then continues due south along the foothills of Montagne de la Blachère before descending into the La Gypière valley. The return trip follows the Grand Vallon valley back up. In the village of La Motte-du-Caire (700 m), take the D951 toward Turriers. Shortly after passing the last houses, turn right at the “Rivaine” intersection and you’ll soon reach another intersection. At the “St Etienne” intersection (710 m), leave the GR®653D and continue on the PR. Climb up a trail overlooking the Grand Vallon valley. After a 1.5-hour climb, you’ll reach the Grand Abian farm. At the Grand Abian farm (1,130 m), turn right at the ruins and continue along a dirt road. Follow it due south for 1 km until you reach a junction at a right-hand bend. Leave the track to follow a trail to the left through the woods. At a small pass, descend to the right. After numerous switchbacks, reach a path in the Gypière valley. Follow it to the left until you reach the D1. At “La Gypière” (655 m), turn right and follow the road for 1 km. At the Bas-Plan intersection, turn right inside the hamlet onto a trail that climbs up the valley, passes through “Le Plan,” and leads to La Motte-du-Caire.

Mount Blachère overlooks La Motte-du-Caire. After warming up on a small road at the bottom of the valley and climbing the mountain via a forest trail, you reach three marked mountain bike trails on each of the slopes. Here, head south on Trail No. 6, crossing along a beautiful path, before a descent through the woods down to La Gypière. The return trip follows a trail through the valley. Pass through the village of La Motte du Caire (700 m) toward Le Caire, then, after the health center, turn right onto the Chemin de Sainte-Anne (mountain bike trail marker #6). The small road descends to the river and crosses it via a footbridge. Turn right. Pass under the soccer field and the campground, and continue along the river. Opposite the glider airfield (on the other bank), leave the road and take the trail ascending to the left. Climb up the Naples forest trail. After a somewhat steep start, the trail levels off. During the ascent, pass two other trails on the right and one on the left, then follow a fairly smooth climb through the robinia trees to reach a pass. Leave the trail and Route No. 5 to take the path on the right toward “La Gypière.” After a balcony-like traverse through the eastern-facing undergrowth (with a few sloping sections), reach a new pass. Pass route no. 7 on your left, which heads toward Clamensane, and continue straight ahead. A beautiful, fun descent through the woods awaits you down to the Gypière valley. Pass in front of the old plaster kiln and reach the road. At La Gypière (655 m), follow the road to the right. At “Bas Plan,” take the path on the right that passes in front of the farm. Follow the trail and reach point 1 via the valley. Return to the starting point via the same route taken on the way there.

The Grand Vallon loop offers a chance to explore the lower valley of La Motte-du-Caire by following a circuit around the gliding airfield. Along this loop, you can also discover quiet, shaded spots via easy trails. Pass through the village of La Motte du Caire (700 m) toward Le Caire, then, after the health center, turn right onto the Chemin de Sainte-Anne (mountain bike trail marker #3). The small road descends to the river and crosses it via a footbridge. Turn right. Pass under the soccer field and the campground, and continue along the river. Opposite the gliding runway (on the other bank), leave the trail to your left (MTB signs #5, 6, and 7). Continue on the road, which turns into a dirt path after the equestrian center, to reach the D1. Turn right onto the D1, then at the intersection, turn right again toward La Motte du Caire for 100 m. Leave the road to the left and take a trail (ONF gate). Follow it uphill, passing a trail on the left and then another on the right. Continue to the end of the trail. Pass the GR on the left and take the path that descends through the woods back to the starting point.

Starting in La Motte-du-Caire, this long loop through the Hautes Terres de Provence offers a chance to explore this unspoiled region on the border between the Baronnies and Ubaye. A cycling route providing access to the central area of the Hautes Terres de Provence. Heading toward Clamensane (7 km), enter the Sasse Valley and follow it upstream to Bayons, after passing through its gorge. From there, the road climbs through the “Tourniquets” to reach the Col des Sagnes (1,182 m). Descend with the Ecrins range in front of you, via Turriers, to the intersection with Route D 951. Follow it to the right through Bréziers and down into the Val de Durance. Just after crossing the canal, turn left toward Rochebrune. Continue through the Trois Lacs for 7 km. From there, tackle the steep 5-km climb to Piégut. The route then winds along ridges to the hamlet of “Les Garcins.” A winding descent leads to Curbans. Follow the Durance River for 10 km to reach Claret for the final climb and the village of Melve. A few kilometers bring you back to the starting point.

Since 1922, our mill extracts extra virgin olive oil, a genuine fruit juice, only with mechanical means to olive oil amateurs’ great joy. For more than 40 years we have been making cosmetics and soap made in a cauldron just like Marseille soap. The harvest of olives is done manually with hand and automatic combs to preserve olives quality. Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Nearly 400 olive growers bring their olives to supply you with: - Green fruity olive oil - Local olive oil All our products are available at our shop and online shop: olive oil, homemade products, Marseille soaps… We also make basil, mint and lemon oils. At the foot of the Melve Tower, an impassable barrier—all too often replaced in rural areas by barbed wire—stands before you. Among the various shrubs and small trees that make up this barrier, the hawthorn plays a prominent role. Derived from the Latin “alba” (white) and “spina” (thorn), it has white bark. A natural shelter or refuge for many birds and insects, the hawthorn has also been used by humans for medicinal and culinary purposes: its flowers, harvested in small bunches along with their young leaves, are used to make tea. It has a calming effect and appears to be effective against anxiety and insomnia. Its young leaves can be eaten raw in a salad, garnished with a few of its flowers. Its fruits, the hawthorns, rich in sugars, pectin, and vitamin C, can be mixed with flour to make pancakes, bread, and more. To do this, crush the hawthorns with your fingers into the flour to mix their pulp with it. Then sift to remove the pits, and use this colorful, fragrant flour just like any other flour. However, its pits contain cyanide and are therefore potentially toxic.

The emergence of the Rosaceae family 80 million years ago marked the birth of this large family to which the apple belongs. The apple as we know it today first appeared in the early Quaternary period in the region of Turkey, approximately 2 million years ago. Originally, apples were tiny and poisonous. During the Neolithic period, the shift to a sedentary lifestyle, along with access to agriculture and animal husbandry, facilitated their development and subsequent spread to Egypt, Greece, and Italy. In the 7th century BC, the founding of Marseille by the Greeks was undoubtedly one of the starting points for the introduction of the apple tree in southern France. The Romans brought with them the thirty or so varieties they knew. From the 10th to the 14th century, monasteries developed the importation and grafting of apples. Today, several thousand apple varieties exist; here, the Golden Delicious is the most common. As for its medicinal benefits, here are a few that will certainly encourage you to eat apples more often (tooth decay, constipation and diarrhea, fatigue, insomnia, obesity and cellulite, burns…).

Located at 1432 meters high, Le Roc de l’Esculier is the highest point of Saint-Genis Mountain. From this place, a wonderful panoramic view allows you to discover Savournon valley and Saint-Genis Corrie. Many hilly areas like Chabre Mountain, Lure Mountain or Arambre mountain can be seen. Further, Dévoluy mountains and Ventoux mount can be seen too.

Colombier pass located at 1160 meters high, splits up the two Aup mountain’s sides – Aup is another name for Saint-Genis Mountain –. From the pass, you can go to many villages like Lazer, Eyguians, Saint-Genis and Savournon.

The Col de Faye, located at an elevation of 922 meters, connects the Savournon Valley with the towns of Faye, Lazer, and Ventavon. This route, well known to locals, saves time when traveling from the Gap road to Serrois by avoiding detours of several dozen kilometers. It is also one of the highest points on the “Tour de la montagne d’Aujour” cycling trail.

In this fast-paced society, it is increasingly difficult to find real time for yourself. When taking over the Moulin de Thoard campsite, we wanted to put forward values that are precious to us, such as benevolence, solidarity and authenticity. It is through our exchanges that we wish to share moments of well-being with you. Here, you will find a calm and restful place in the middle of a natural setting. The valley of Thoard is set back from the main tourist routes, which allows it to keep its authenticity. We buy from local producers, breeders and shops, to offer you quality products in our campsite. This way, we favour short supply chain, limiting our environmental impact as much as possible. The campsite is also open to motorhomes within the limits of the allocated space. A service area is provided by the village outside the campsite. Le Moulin campsite welcomes you to this small natural setting on the banks of the Drôme, just a stone's throw from its source. New offer: 4-person lodge tent with private kitchenette, 2 bedrooms and terrace. The campsite has several toilets and showers, and a covered area with tables (and fridge) for shelter in bad weather. Situated at the foot of the village built on a rocky outcrop, Camping du Moulin is close to village activities: hiking, theme walks, mountain bike trails, archery, tennis, climbing, children's games. Pitches are free.

The Laugier cabin was built by Siméon Rolland de Ruissas at the beginning of the 20th century in order to contemplate the stars. It is the ideal place to rest or spend the night. You’ll find there a visitor’s book. Do not hesitate to write a little note while passing by.

Valdrôme in Haut-Diois is surrounded by mountains, some with lavender fields. It is a charming hilltop village at 800 m of altitude on a rocky outcrop offering one of the clearest starry sky in France. Hikers, families, groups of friends, sports clubs…everyone is welcome for a night or a longer stay at Auberge de Valdrôme.
